BUSINESS PAYOUTS

Paying overseas suppliers from the Netherlands

A US supplier invoicing $2,000, a euro invoice to Germany and a sterling bill to a UK bank are three different payment jobs. Supplier payments need the right receipt amount and traceable accounting, not merely a foreign-exchange headline.

In brief

Start with the invoice currency, requested settlement amount and recipient bank details. If the invoice is payable in euros through SEPA, a bank transfer may suffice. If currency conversion is needed, check who covers conversion and possible intermediary costs.

The recipient may need an exact amount

A contract requiring a net $2,000 receipt isn't satisfied merely by typing an approximate equivalent in euros. Check how the provider handles a fixed target-currency amount, what fees are deducted and whether intermediary banks can charge.

Choose the payout network and beneficiary details before confirming a rate. Cash timing and invoice due dates can matter as much as a quoted spread.

Batch payments are an operational feature, not a free-transfer pass

Wise Business describes CSV/XLSX batch uploads for up to 1,000 payments. A batch can be funded from a Wise balance or local bank transfer, but individual payout fees still add up. A file upload does not erase foreign-exchange or transaction charges.

Before uploading, check beneficiary identifiers, invoice reference, amounts, approvals and duplicate records. Keep a process for rejects and updates.

Accounting and supplier communication

Save the invoice, final conversion details, payment reference and receipt. Reconcile payment fees and exchange differences in the accounting system. A transfer provider does not automatically satisfy Dutch tax or recordkeeping obligations.

Checklist before choosing

  • Does the supplier need an exact EUR, GBP or USD amount?
  • Are the recipient's domestic payout and bank details verified?
  • Have all invoices and batch recipients been approved and deduplicated?
  • Can the accounting team match the rate, fee and payout receipt to each invoice?
